If you are just learning to make reeds, or are a busy oboe teacher who doesn’t have time for the cane selection, gouging, shaping, and tying - good news! I am now offering reed blanks for sale. These are tied in the same manner as my finished professional oboe reeds.
These are not scraped. They will not work in your oboe unless you scrape on them. These are not finished reeds. This listing is for a pack of three oboe reed blanks.
I use the following materials:
Hand-gouged cane, on a Reeds 'n Stuff/ Hodge gouging machine.
Shape is RDG -1 or Pfeiffer-Mack reproduction.
Stevens silver, thinwall, 47mm staples.
Tied at ~74mm.
Each blank is sterilized in 70% isopropyl alcohol before mailing.
